Stretching along the shores of the beautiful 500-acre Lake Jackson, this compact 40-acre park offers swimming, paddleboat rentals, a bike path and walking trail, excellent fishing, a scene picnic area, and a modern lakeside campground. Water skiing and personal watercraft are also allowed on the lake. Visit the park today as see what residents of Florala enjoy year-round.

The main attraction is Lake Jackson itself. Considered one of the cleanest and clearest bodies of water in Alabama, visitors can spend an entire day swimming, boating and fishing. The lake is inviting year-round for campers seeking to avoid those harsh winter months up north. The park is also a perfect spot for area day-cationers who want the white sands and crystal clear waters of the Gulf without the long drive.

Florala State Park is also a stop on Alabama’s Wiregrass birding trail. Waterfowl, song birds and raptors including osprey and Bald eagles are common sites in the park.

Trails

The day use area features a bicycle/pedestrian trail that runs the entire length of the park from the campground to the City Wetlands Park and to the Old Depot.

The trail is approximately 1.4 miles in length.

Fishing

Lake Jackson is considered one of the cleanest and clearest bodies of water in Alabama. The lake offers fishing, boating, swimming and waterskiing. A boat launch and piers provide access to the water for fishermen hoping to land that big bass. There is a boat launch fee of $3 per boat.

Camping

Florala has 28 campsites with 50-amp electrical service, satellite TV, water and sewage. Each site has a picnic table and grill. The campground features a modern bathhouse with coin operated laundry facilities. A large pavilion is available for campers and can be used on a first come, first served basis. A boat launch is also located in the campground area.

Picnic area

A picnic area and a 200-foot pier are located in the day use area.

Playground

Florala features playground equipment including swings and slides for the kids and young at heart.

Swimming
