Gallagher Canyon is a 400-acre irrigation impoundment with 24 acres of recreation land adjacent in a secluded and beautiful setting. Although a challenge to get to, Gallagher Canyon offers outstanding scenery and some of the state’s best fishing for crappies and line-busting flathead and channel catfish.

Attractions

Fishing
Gallagher Canyon offers good spring crappie fishing in the coves, as well as channel and flathead catfish. Drum and carp are common catches also. Fishing is also available for walleye, sauger, white bass and freshwater drum.

Boating
Gallagher Canyon is part of the Central Irrigation District Supply Canal. The area provides water access to more than 10 miles of the canal and is open to all boats. However, it is a no-wake zone. The canal connects with the Plum Creek Reservoir and Johnson Lake. One ramp and one dock are available.

Gallagher Canyon has 18 picnic tables and 18 grills

Camping

Primitive camping
The heavily wooded campground offers 24 non-pad campsites with no electricity. Vault toilets are available. There are no showers, water or dump stations.
