Shawnee State Park is 3,983 acres of Pennsylvania’s scenic Ridge and Valley Province. Ten miles west of the historic town of Bedford along US 30, Shawnee has modern recreational facilities that blend into the natural environment. A focal point of the park is the 451-acre Shawnee Lake.

Picnicking at Shawnee State Park

This activity or structure is ADA accessible. Pavilions #2 and #3 are ADA accessible.
Picnic tables, charcoal grills, water fountains, and restrooms are scattered around the park.

Five picnic pavilions may be reserved up to 11 months in advance for a fee. Unreserved picnic pavilions are free on a first-come, first-served basis.

The 290 campsites at Shawnee State Park have picnic tables and fire rings, and accommodate tents or trailers. In addition to some full-service campsites that have sewer, water, and electric, 98 sites have electric hookups.

Pets are permitted at designated campsites for a fee.

Three campsites are ADA accessible.

There is a sanitary dump station and centrally located washhouses with flush toilets, showers, and laundry tubs.

The camping season begins the second Friday in April and ends in late December.

Swimming at Shawnee State Park

The sand and turf beach has modern bathhouses with flush toilets and showers. Vending machines are available.

The beach is open from late-May to mid-September, 8:00 A.M. until sunset.

Swim at your own risk. Please read and follow posted rules.

Smoke-Free Beach
Smoking is prohibited on the beach and in the swimming area. For visitors who smoke and still want to use this beach, designated areas adjacent to the beach are provided. The restriction includes:

Other handheld, lighted smoking devices

Boating at Shawnee State Park

Electric motors only

This activity or structure is ADA accessible. The main boat dock and launch ramp are ADA accessible.
The 451-acre Shawnee Lake has three boat launch areas and 183 dry-boat mooring spaces.

Fishing at Shawnee State Park

The 451-acre Shawnee Lake is stocked with warmwater game fish.

Hunting at Shawnee State Park

During established seasons, more than 3,000 acres are open to:

Hunting woodchucks, also known as groundhogs, is prohibited. Dog training is only permitted from the day following Labor Day through March 31 in designated hunting areas.

Biking at Shawnee State Park

7.5 miles of trails

The 3.4-mile Lakeshore Trail is easy biking and includes a small section of shared road.

All other designated bicycling trails are moderate difficulty.

Disc Golfing at Shawnee State Park

The nine-hole, three par course in the main day-use area has nice distance holes and an up-and-over-the-hill challenge.

Sledding at Shawnee State Park

A large area of hillsides near Picnic Area #2 is great for sledding.

Cross-country Skiing at Shawnee State Park

Most trails are suitable for novice and experienced skiers and snowshoers.

Lake Shore is the most popular trail.

Ice Skating at Shawnee State Park

An area at Colvin Boat Launch is popular when conditions permit.

Ice thickness is not monitored.

Snowmobiling at Shawnee State Park

Registered snowmobiles are permitted on an 11-mile trail network in the eastern side of the park.
